Sometimes it can feel extremely challenging to make progress in your fitness journey. The weight just won’t come off and you feel very discouraged. In these moments we can begin to think that the odds are stacked against us. That somehow our bodies just won’t respond to healthy nutrition and consistent exercise like it does for everyone else. It is in these thoughts that you become a prisoner to your body.
The definition of a victim is one that is acted on and usually adversely affected by a force or agent. In this case the force or agent is you. You begin to believe the lie that there is nothing that you can do to help your situation. This could not be further from the truth.
When you believe that there is nothing you can do you begin to lose hope. When you lose hope you quit giving effort because you see no point in it. You also complain either in your head or to others that the plan is not working. Your attitude becomes very negative.
Let me address something important at this point. You likely have good reason to feel the way you do at this moment. If you have struggled to lose weight for a long time and make some changes and do not see results it can be very discouraging. You could also have some challenges in your genetics that prevent you from seeing results in your body. Please do not hear this message today that you cannot feel down or unhappy with progress. That is a natural feeling when things are not going the way you would like.
My hope with this message is that you do not fall further into the trap into thinking that you cannot make change. Everyone can make progress in their fitness journey and health. The battle is won in your thoughts first then you believe in yourself enough to keep doing the physical work. That is why I think a coach or a community of people around you is so important. Because when you feel down they can help pick you back up. Surround yourself with support when you are going through this journey. Voice your fears and concerns with people around you. Do not bottle up those things and try this alone.
Lastly, you are not a victim. Your body works. It actually works much better than you realize. It is your mind that needs to force you to take action which is not easy when you are feeling down.
Keep moving forward.
And reach out to us if you are ready for a little extra help. We’d love to support you on your journey.
